Myself and Julie are cruel cruel parents :)
We have finally found a "method" of getting Luke to bed on time and without grumbling or tantrums.
In our wisdom, we have convinced Luke that if he doesn't go to bed on time, then the policeman will come knocking to tell mummy and daddy off.
He always replies (not always the same order):
- Knock Knock (as he thumps air)
- Pliceman (he misses the "O")
- Mummy and Daddy (dedicated and honest parents)
- Timeout (our punishment for not getting Luke to bed on time)
- Naughty (he has to tell us we are naughty for not getting him to bed on time)
The fun part is when me and Julie knock on something in the house and he looks around startled for the Policeman
LOL!!!!
I am sure it won't take him long to figure out our ploy

That's funny.
We don't have that problem as we just tell Alice that she can't have a story unless she comes for a bath etc.
Its true...
We even say it when he is naughty sometimes, and he backs down.
